The Foo Fighters, featuring Dave Grohl, former drummer for Nirvana, released their debut self-titled platinum album in 1995 which was originally recorded as a demo tape by Grohl (who played all instruments. The Foo Fighters' career has been largely, as bassist Nate Mendel puts it, "accidental." In 1997 the band released The Colour and the Shape and went through a line-up change. Foo Drummer William Goldsmith would be replaced by Taylor Hawkins months before Pat Smear would depart – all of this as The Colour and the Shape yielded one FF classic after another: "Monkey Wrench," "Everlong," "My Hero," "Walking After You" – and rocketed beyond the sales of Foo Fighters.

There Is Nothing Left To Lose was released in 1999. The band enlisted guitarist Chris Shiflett and embarked on yet another global tour in support of the album, concluding with two Grammy victories: Best Rock Album and Short Form Music Video ("Learn To Fly"). One By One followed in 2002 which became the fourth FF record to go platinum, and gaining two ore Grammies: Best Hard Rock Performance for the "All My Life" single and a second consecutive Best Rock Album statuette. Foo Fighters fifth and latest release, In Your Honor, opens with a statement of purpose universal in its passion. Dave Grohl could be singing to his wife, bandmates Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins and Chris Shiflett, or to any and every fan listening to the song. In truth, the song and the double album – are dedicated to all of the above: the friends, family and fans that have made the decade-long Foo Fighters odyssey possible.

85,000 screaming fans crammed into London’s Hyde Park to see the Foo Fighters play the largest show of their 11-year history. Dave Grohl and company are joined by some of rocks most legendary players: Queen’s Roger Taylor and Brian May join the band for a near-perfect rendition of "Tie Your Mother Down" featuring Foo drummer Taylor Hawkins pulling vocal duties. In a show that could be considered a "live greatest hits," Foo Fighters crank through hits like "Best of You", "Learn to Fly", "Monkeywrench", "Times Like These" and "Everlong."
