Francesco De Gregori - Theorius Campus con Antonello Venditti (1972)

Theorius Campus è un album pubblicato nel 1972 dalla It, attribuito ai Theorius Campus. Non si tratta di un gruppo, come potrebbe sembrare ad un primo approccio, ma di un duo formato da Francesco De Gregori e Antonello Venditti.
Registrato allo Studio 38 dell'Apollo di Roma (casa discografica di proprietà di Edoardo Vianello) e pubblicato dalla It di Vincenzo Micocci.
Le canzoni sono cantate dai due cantautori separatamente, tranne Dolce signora che bruci e In mezzo alla città, cantate dai due insieme.
L'unico brano già noto del disco è Sora Rosa, registrata qualche mese prima da Edoardo De Angelis nel suo disco Il paese dove nascono i limoni, inciso insieme a Stelio Gicca Palli.
All'album, prodotto da Paolo Dossena e Italo Greco (che suonano anche le tastiere), hanno collaborato come musicisti Giorgio Lo Cascio (chitarra), Maurizio Giammarco (flauto) ed alcuni musicisti inglesi, di cui tre (Dave Sumner e Douglas Meakin alle chitarre e Mick Brill al basso) sono ex componenti del gruppo beat dei Motowns, mentre Derek Wilson (alla batteria) è un session man del giro della RCA Italiana; i quattro inglesi, oltre a suonare, accompagnano con le voci De Gregori in Vocazione 1 e 1/2 e Little Snoring Willy.

Suonano anche i due cantautori, Venditti al pianoforte, De Gregori alla chitarra.
In copertina è presente il famoso dipinto del pittore inglese John Everett Millais, che raffigura Ofelia, personaggio dell'Amleto di William Shakespeare.

Nella prima edizione, sulle due etichette, vi sono due fotografie dei cantautori.
Come ha spiegato De Gregori, il titolo dell'album non ha nessun senso, è un nome inventato.
Da questo album la It trasse un 45 giri contenente due brani di Venditti, Ciao uomo e Roma capoccia (sul lato B); Ciao uomo viene anche proposta alla Mostra Internazionale di Musica Leggera di Venezia, vincendo la Gondola d'argento, ed il testo racconta la storia di un viaggio spaziale attraverso il dialogo tra il capitano dell'astronave e un astronauta ("Signor capitano qual è la rotta, qual è il destino del nostro viaggio?), su un accompagnamento di pianoforte basato sulla ripetizione di tre note.
Sarà però Roma capoccia la canzone che diverrà più nota negli anni seguenti, tanto che l'Album sarà ristampato alcuni anni dopo proprio con il titolo della canzone.

Theorius Campus is an album released in 1972 by It, attributed to Theorius Campus. This is not a group, as it might seem at first glance, but a duo of Francesco De Gregori and Antonello Venditti.
Recorded at Studio 38 Apollo in Rome (record label owned by Edoardo Vianello) and published by Vincenzo It Micocci.
The songs are sung by two singers separately, except sweet lady in the middle and burn the city, the two sing together.
The only piece of the disc is already known Sora Rosa, recorded several months earlier by Edoardo De Angelis in his album The country where the lemons come engraved with Stelio Gicca Palli.
The album, produced by Paolo Dossena and Italo Greek (who also plays keyboards), worked as musicians Giorgio Lo Cascio (guitar), Maurizio Giammarco (flute) and some English musicians, three of which (Sumner and Dave Douglas to Meakin Mick Brill on bass and guitar) are former members of the group beat the Motowns, while Derek Wilson (drums) is a session man in the Italian round of the RCA, the four British, in addition to playing, accompanying the voices De Gregori in a Vocation and 1 / 2 and Little Snoring Willy.

As explained by De Gregori, the title makes no sense, is a name invented.
From this album, It took a 45 containing two songs by Venditti, Hello Rome man and foreman (side B) Hello Man is also proposed to the International Exhibition of Light Music of Venice Gondola winning the silver, and the text tells the story of space travel through dialogue between the captain of the spaceship and an astronaut ("Captain, what is the route, what is the fate of our trip?), on a piano accompaniment based on the repetition of three notes.
