The history of rhythm and blues is filled with vocal groups whose names – the Orioles, the Cadillacs, the Crows, the Flamingos, the Moonglows, the Coasters, the Penguins – are held in reverence by fanatics and devotees. The Drifters are part of an even more exclusive fraternity, as a group that managed to carve out a place for themselves in the R&B firmament and also define that music, not only at its inception as a national chart phenomenon in the early '50s but also in the decade that followed. Their place in history is as complex as their role in it, by virtue of the fact that there are two distinct phases to their music and the continuity of their membership, and their extraordinary longevity – only the Platters could claim as great a span of years as an active recording unit, though the latter group, due to major differences in the way they were organized, were far more stable in their membership and output. The Drifters can also claim a unique place in popular music history, as a major R&B group founded at the instigation of a record-label chief.

End of status report

This issue has a tri-fold booklet/liner notes. I stitched it together to appear as it does stretched out on my desk.
All files are fully tagged.
WavPack has cue sheet embedded as well as a separate cue sheet file.

The jpg artwork (32mb) is included in the music download. The png artwork (200mb) is a separate file. Those that want png will waste their bandwidth by downloading the jpg that is included in the music archives. If I put the jpg separate the free users will have to download one more file in order get any artwork, which is a hassle for sure. My connection sucks so if I use larger archives it is a real problem for me to upload. I actually prefer smaller (100mb) parts for me to upload or download but I go with 150mb because I realize that having many parts are a problem for free users. Some people have premium and some don't. Some have a great connection and others, like myself, don't. I haven't had any complaints but I just wanted you guys to get an idea of the issues involved and how I arrived at this way of doing things. There is no way to make it easy for everybody. I appreciate all the comments everyone has left me in the last few weeks. Thanks everybody!

I don't mind if you post any problems you may find in the comments but please send me a pm also.
