Daevid Allen - Bananamoon Obscura Volume 9 (2006)
Canterbury Scene | MP3 320kbps | 108mb
Genre: Alternative / Prog

Volume 9 in the Bananamoon Obscura series. Each volume is limited to 1000 copies, released by Daevid through the Voiceprint label. This one is a recent addition to my collection, which is why it didn't make it onto my original Bananamoon Obscura post.
Daevid Allen (Gong) Bananamoon Obscura - part 2 / 2006

It's called "Divided Alien Playbax Disc 2" so you should know roughly what to expect. Recorded live at The Mistake in Cleveland, Daevid treats his audience to a solo set similar in style to his Dividedalienplaybax80 CD. A good, edgy set - with the only disappointing track being Opium For The People: it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the numbers performed here, and Daevid is forced into singing along to a backing tape. Yes kids, that's right: karaoke Gong (!) Rather puzzling, but he more than makes up for this with the other nine songs which (thankfully) suit the solo performer much better - such as an inspired rendition of Death Of Rock, the poem that caused Georgie Fame to grab Daevid by the sleeve and snap:"Rhythm and blues ain't fucking dead!" when first performed at The Speakeasy back in the sixties. Brian Auger played the funeral march on the organ while Zoot Money was carried into the club inside a coffin on that particulat occasion. No such far-out-ness this time methinks.
