Her early career was guided by Atlanta music legend Sonny Limbo. He connected Sami Jo with Rick Hall in Muscle Shoals, AL, where she recorded two singles that failed to chart. Sonny then got her a deal with MGM South, which led to Sami Jo's first hit, "Tell Me A Lie". In addition to reaching #21 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart, it also reached #14 on Billboard's Easy Listening chart. Her follow-up single, "It Could Have Been Me", also did well, reaching #46 pop and #31 easy listening. Her first album, also entitled It Could Have Been Me, peaked at #33 on the U.S. Country Albums chart.

Okay guys, here's the story. I ripped this some time back but scanned it yesterday. There is nothing that indicates to me that this is a promo album but on the back of the jacket it is stamped in red ink "WKCY Radio 1300" along with the date "Jan 14 1975". It also has one corner of the jacket clipped off. I don't believe I used any noise reduction when I ripped it months ago but I can't say for sure. I played this rip yesterday and manually removed one or two clicks. I also found that one of the tracks showed to have one clip. I used SoundForge Pro to handle those issues. (In the future I will lower my recording level.) Sami Jo only had 2 albums to my knowledge. This one from 1974 and a self-titled release from 1975. I will share it soon. Neither of her two albums have ever been released on cd that I know of so I'm guessing that this most likely the best copy you will find. I'm not a huge country music fan but I like both of her albums. I know my rip can't compare to others that share on this site but I think that most people will not gag when playing this. It will sound much better if you lower your expectations before playing. lol
