Strictly speaking, one might wonder if it is necessary to “jazzify” one of the greatest classical compositions ever; and one from the the untouchable J.S. Bach at that…but the King’s Singers and the WDR Big band are no mediocre performers. They fully well know what they’re doing here and turn the Christmas Oratorio into a vivid, swinging piece.
Perhaps you consider this "Oratorio Kind of Blue" as some sort of devaluation of the original message, but any jazz lover will tell you this record is fantastically well done.
