J.S.Bach - Italian Concerto BWV971, Partita BWV825, Toccata BWV912 (Dubravka Tomsic)

This distinguished Slovenian pianist Dubravka Tomsic gave her first public recital at the age of five and has steadily established herself as one of the world’s truly great concert artists. She has given more than 3000 performances throughout Western Europe, North America, Asia, Australia, Mexico, Russia and Eastern Europe. Dubravka Tomsic studied at the Ljubljana Academy and the Julliard School of Music in New York. She subsequently studied privately with Artur Rubinstein for two years. In his memoirs, ‘My Many Years’, Mr. Rubinstein wrote a glowing account of her debut recital at Carnegie Hall. He considered her “a perfect and marvellous pianist” and they remained friends throughout his life. Considered a pianist of legendary stature in many countries, Dubravka Tomsic has given recitals to great critical acclaim in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Moscow, St.Petersburg, Budapest, Madrid, Rome and in many cities and leading musical centres throughout the United States of America. She has performed with the major symphony orchestras around the world. In London, Vienna, Leipzig, Zurich, Munich, Berlin, Moscow, Dresden and, in the United States, with the New York Philharmonic, Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta and Detroit Symphony Orchestras. After her debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra playing the Beethoven Emperor Concerto under Seiji Ozawa in 1994 she was invited to play additional performances with that great orchestra in Boston and at their concerts in New York’s Carnegie Hall in 1998 and 2001. Apart from her concert activities, Dubravka Tomsic has served as juror for many international piano competitions, including the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1997, the Leeds International Piano Competition in September 2000, and the Beethoven International Piano Competition in Vienna in May 2001. Ms. Tomsic makes her home in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and is a Professor at the Ljubljana Academy of Music.
