With the release of 2013's 13, metal deities Black Sabbath came back not just with their first studio album since 1995, but with a return to the inspired sludginess and demonic crunch of some of their classic early material. The band embarked on a massive tour in support of the album, and Gathered in Their Masses captures live performances from the first two kick-off gigs in Melbourne, Australia. All of the band's original members are present except drummer Bill Ward, and the group powered through set lists somewhat light on material from newer album 13, but padded generously with crowd favorites from the band's untouchable first six albums. Newer jams like "End of the Beginning" sit beside metal blueprints like "Iron Man" and "War Pigs," and the sound of a post-apocalyptic soiree can be heard in the energy of the crowd and the band alike.

Black Sabbath Online has detailed the Universal Republic Blu-ray release of Black Sabbath: Live… Gathered in their Masses, which is set to arrive later this fall in three separate editions, among them a Deluxe Box collector's set that features exclusive live tracks, bonus content, poster, guitar picks and more. All three versions of the band's live performance are being released on November 26th.

Gathered in their Masses showcases the two-night April 29th/May 1st performance in which Black Sabbath – Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar) and Geezer Butler (bass) – kicked off the band's "13" world tour in Melbourne, Australia. It was the first time the band had been back Down Under since 1974, and the resulting live recording saw the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame inductees at their best, playing tracks from the million selling "13" album, as well as classic hits from their back catalogue.
