Axess - Voices Of Dawn

Axess - Voices Of Dawn (2008)
Electronica, Ambient, Trance | MP3 CBR 320k | 209 MB

A fusion of percussions and hopping arpeggios open this Axel Stupplich 4th opus solo.

Slow synthesized modulations envelop the intro of Beyond the Stars, which becomes more melody with its fine fluty line. Sequences become more biting and the rhythm more nervous under soft synthesized layers, plunging the rhythm in a nostalgic broth. Because Voices of Dawn is an album imprints of nostalgia for the fans of Pyramid Peak and the first works of Axess.
If Beyond the Stars brushes the impetuous movements of a daring Jarre straight from the 70’s, Zeit plunges us in a nebulous blackness which wake up gently under a felted synth with cosmic breaths and a sequence which whirls with more biting. Axess at his best, hypnotic and appealing, with superb solos of a striking synth and just enough tempo to float in a spangled ocean.
An excellent title on Voices of Dawn, just as The Return Of Nibiru with its whirling and tumbling sequence which is moulding with another, more hopping, forming a nevrotic pace. A synth with loopy waves and discrete choruses broods this hiccoughing sequential fusion which shakes the beat with great percussions. From dry and hatched, in technoпd style, the synth flows more harmonious and grinding. A paradox in rhythm and melody in a highly charged ambiance whereas The Return Of Nibiru progresses on a tempo that goes more frantic, nourishing itself of a flood synthesized completely disorganized, but surprisingly creative. A boiling track that goes beyond the limit of a traditional Berlin School.
After such aggressiveness, Axess invites us in a more serene corridor with the melodious Roppongi Hills. A soft sober title with a synth to strident melody, coupled with a more harmonious mellotron. A beautiful melody, in Klangwelt style, which sticks to the skin and a beautiful small dessert for the ears go up in flames by the first 3 tracks.
As far as I’m concern, Stonehenge is Voices of Dawn jewel. A black intro skewered of metal breathes which add a cosmic coldness to a movement more than nebulous. Some dark TD which takes off slowly under the hazes of a flowing synth, of which stick hardly audible vocals. A splendid sequence hems on the movement, creating a hypnotic effect. A delicious hypnosis which reaches its melodious paroxysm with a sequence in staccato passage which circulates as cyclic loops in a harmonious maelstrom obliging to the ears. Some great EM art we have here and one of the best tracks of 2008.
Endless Dreams brings us indeed toward eternal dreams with its soft hypnotic sequence which runs like fine percussions, on a morphic synth. A gliding track in the purest Berlin School tradition.
Voices of Dawn concludes also on a floating movement with beautiful synthesized waves which hem in a heavy ambiance. An ambiance wrapped of consistent layers which slightly takes an insistent structure with a base line which is agitating slightly under fine percussions.

After a long silence of 3 years, Axess returns in force with an opus impossible to avoid. In Voices of Dawn, he confirms its immense talent of composer and sound visionary with a superb mixture of retro Berlin School to a more contemporary one.
A solid opus, full of rhythms, musical turnarounds and of tenderness, which reveals all the beauty and the subtlety of the EM art.
