Leagues is a heady blend of uplifting pop and heavyweight electronic gravitas and “Slow And Steady” is at once anthemic, emotional and immediate. It further cements the band’s penchant for writing music that aims to appeal to the masses while at the same time staying true to the duo’s desire to pen songs that speak to the heart. The band’s Thad Cockrell notes, “I want to create music that connects to people, and songs that not just connect to a crowd of people but connect us to the audience and the audience to us. In Leagues, we always say that the silent member, the third member of the band, is the audience and the pleasure of the crowd.”

Earlier this Spring Leagues revealed “Dance With Me” which has already garnered well over 200K streams on Spotify and following that they shared “Lipstick Coffee” which No Country For New Nashville proclaimed, “”further exemplifies (Leagues’) mastery of bombastic, infinitely danceable, hook laden pop music, and continues the duo’s knack for writing catchy tracks that demand buzz.”

Comprised of lead vocalist and songwriter Cockrell and producer/ programmer /drummer Jeremy Lutito, Leagues first turned heads with their 2013 breakout debut album, You Belong Here, but it was hardly either’s debut on the music scene. Cockrell, a preacher’s son, began his career as a songwriter and alt-country performer in 2001. After a debut EP earned him a multi-record deal he set the course for decade’s long journey that would later lead opportunities to write and play with Tift Merritt, Donovan Frankenreiter, and Jars of Clay.

Meanwhile Lutitio spent his post-college days honing his chops in Music City as a drummer, producer and engineer.

Prior to the advent of Leagues, both seemed set for stable careers many steps removed from the path that would lead to the band’s inception. “Starting Leagues actually seemed pretty delusional at the time,” says Lutito, “To start a band when you’re 34, 35 is pretty damn ambitious. When you’re a 22-year- old starting a band, you’ve got nothing to lose.”
