At the end of the 19th century, Spanish music saw an exceptional blossoming in connection with the great French composers met in Paris, especially in the piano field. A few years later, Isaac Albéniz made a sensation with the famous Iberia collection comparable to the older masterpieces by Chopin, Schumann, Liszt or Brahms. Granados creates the twelve Spanish dances and the Goyescas, Manuel de Falla the Fantasia bética which sums up the Iberian genius, passion flaming, deep chant, rhythms endiablés, captivating melodies, haughty nobility and subterranean fire. Turina will be the continuator, and Mompou will draw his personal path of harmonic refinements, unheard sonorities and contained violence. Laurent Martin proposes here his own choice, long ripened by numerous stays beyond the Pyrenees, marked by the discovery of the popular roots of these fascinating and captivating sounds still present in today's Spain.
