Lamont Dozier - Soul Man: The Best of Lamont Dozier (2002)
Funk, Soul, R&B | MP3 320 kbps CBR | 75 min | 174 MB
Label: Castle Music | Rel: 2002

One-third of the unstoppable powerhouse team that steamrolled the music charts for the better portion of a decade, Lamont Dozier originally started out as an artist in several local Detroit groups before Barry Gordy recruited him for Motown. After non-stop writing and production for the label, Dozier left Motown and immediately rejuvenated his personal music endeavors as a solo artist. And while he will always be better known for his production efforts, Dozier had several gems in his own right and Soul Man compiles his finest moments. This is a thorough enough introduction to the man without diving into filler or less than stellar moments within his career. Casual listeners will find this a worthwhile purchase as well as a perfect supplement to Castle's equally brilliant Why Can't We Be Lovers: The Invictus Sessions release.
