Style: New Age, Piano, Instrumental | Label: John Burke

Encompassing a unique flavor of new age jazz and classicism, Chirality takes John Burke’s solo piano compositions to an extraordinary level of beauty and complexity. “Chirality,” a property of asymmetry, pertains to mirrored images that are nonidentical, such as a person’s hands. Johann Sebastian Bach often used mirror inversions in his fugues, playing melodies and their "mirrored" counterparts. John Burke ingeniously infuses this exciting technique into solo piano.

A native Atlantan, John started playing piano in high school after being inspired by his musical father. John played sporadically for a few years, but things picked up in college: he joined a band, practiced rigorously, and studied under a remarkable pianist, Brent Runnels.
In 2009, John discovered pianist George Winston and Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek. Obsessed with these music icons, John became inspired to compose his own solo piano music.
In 2011, John composed his first album, Synesthesia, which quickly achieved international praise. In 2013, John composed his second album, Reverie, which was nominated for Album of the Year by SoloPiano.com. John's third and most powerful album, Chirality, was released in November 2014.
John is a working musician in Atlanta and performs at events and weddings, teaches students, and continues writing music.
