Chicago: The Living Legends is a 1961 album by Junie C. Cobb & His New Hometown Band. Originally released on the Riverside label, this edition was made by Original Jazz Classics (OJC)/Fantasy Jazz and released on 20 August, 1993 and is remastered by Phil De Lancie.
I could not find a decent review so here are a few things from the liner notes. Cobb was born in Arkansas in 1898, and in time would find his way to New Orleans, which is where his love of jazz began. He fell in love with the clarinet, and when thousands of New Orleans residents moved up north to Chicago, Cobb was a part of that forthcoming new population. He would record a number of sides, which he would continue to do throughout the 20's and 30's. Cobb would also play alto and tenor saxophone on some of his recordings. He would also play with many bands.

Cobb would then retire from music, but those sounds he heard in Chicago, along with his love of New Orleans, lead him back to recording once more. Due to health problems, he would go back to one of his original instruments, the piano. A recording made in the 50's made producer Chris Albertson wonder if this was the same Junie Cobb that recorded in the 20's and 30's. Cobb's trail was easy to trace, and Cobb told him he was one and the same. It would lead to the creation of Riverside's Chicago: The Living Legends series.

The music at times harks back to the golden era of Cobb's friend and colleague Jelly Roll Morton, but as producer Chris Albertson points out in his liner notes, "Mr. Cobb is a highly individualistic man."
