2016 solo album from the singer/songwriter best known for his work with the Grammy-winning band America. Recorded at his Los Angeles studio Human Nature, the shimmering 12-track album plays to all of Beckley's strengths; the singer, songwriter and musician played most instruments on the album. "With a solo project I'm really a committee of one," says Beckley. "There's only myself to please. Having said that, it's not always easy. Each project is a snapshot in time. The material on Carousel came from a wide scope of inspiration." Carousel contains original standouts such as the deeply personal "Lifeline", "No Way I'm Gonna Lose You" (co-written with Dan Wilson who won an award for his work with Adele) and "Tokyo", of which Beckley says: "The song actually came to me while I was waiting to board a flight home from Japan. I seem to remember I lost track of time and almost missed the flight." There are also three covers on which Beckley puts his distinctive spin: Spirit's "Nature's Way", Gerry Rafferty's "To Each and Everyone" and Gerry and The Pacemakers' "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying". "I've fortunately never been short on inspiration for my original material but I do love to record a cover every so often," says Beckley. "These three are of course from my long list of fave songs."

Gerry Beckley has a way of befriending you with his music. He has a unique way of establishing a bond with his listeners. This collection furthers that notion. I loved Carousel and Lifeline. Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying is simply exquisite. Gerry's voice is perfectly suited to this timeless ballad. A few years back he did a remake of the Korgis Classic Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime which was equally as good. Carousel is an intimate album. It's as if you're spending the day with him. No regrets here.

It’s finally here !
CAROUSEL has arrived. It has 12 songs and close to 40 minutes of pure GERRY BECKLEY 100%. With supporting contributions from Matt Beckley, Ryland Steen, Jeff Foskett and Jeff Larson just to name a few. This CD has something for everyone. TOKYO is a very nice opener with very catchy musical phrasing. NATURE’s WAY has a haunting melody that will get you thinking. ONCE A DISTANT HEART has a visitor from a past GERRY release. All the songs have a fresh feel without cluttered lyrics and instrumentation, the songs are clean and fresh. All lyrics are clear and the music is alive and vibrant. The CD includes the lyrics to all the songs. By the way the cover that GERRY did, Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying, originally done by Gerry & the Pacemakers was done superbly, the emotions from this song are clearly surfaced as GERRY performs. The richness in GERRY’s voice is readily apparent. This CD is a must have.
