Billy Cox's Nitro Function is a band that features Billy Cox (former Band Of Gypsys & Jimi Hendrix' bass guitarist) on bass & background vocals, female guitarist & lead vocalist Char Vinnedge & drummer Robert Tarrant. The music is bluesy hard rock with very Hendrix-type guitar playing. The album was originally released in 1972. This 2001 cd is digitally remastered with a great sound.

Билли Кокс служил вместе с Джими Хендриксом в армии и позднее играл на бас гитаре в его группе Band Of Gypsys. Billy Cox's Nitro Function новое трио с участием Билли Кокса явно использует багаж The Band of Gypsys, и больше всего это заметно по характерной гитарной технике: Чар Виннедж старательно подражает Хендриксу (он же автор почти всех композиций). Рычащий фузованный бас самого Кокса дополняет сходство, хотя высокий вокал дает совершенно другую окраску. Впрочем, композиционно диск совсем другой, большая часть песен звучит как Jefferson Airplane в обработке Хендрикса сотоварищи, особенно такие вещи, как Touch Me или Powerhouse. В написанной Коксом You Got A Hold On Me есть влияние фанка, кроме того, группа исполняет свою версию дэвисовской You Really Got Me.
