Alive! is Kiss' first live album and is considered their breakthrough, as well as a landmark for live albums. Released on September 10, 1975, the double-disc set contains live versions of selected tracks from their first three studio albums, . The record was recorded from concerts in Detroit, Michigan; Wildwood, New Jersey; Cleveland, Ohio; and Davenport, Iowa. What can be said about ALIVE!? Considered to be one of the best live rock albums of all time, this was the album that put KISS on the map & make them a household name. Released on September 11, 1975 the album became KISS’ highest selling album. It has apparently sold in excess of 9 Million copies worldwide! Interest was so severe, and sales so brisk, that the album was certified Gold, for sales of 500,000 copies, on December 4, 1975. The band members were presented their Gold awards backstage at their New Year’s show at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island. The award was Casablanca’s first proper award by one of their musical acts. This was an appropriate reward with the band having been the first to sign with the label. The album would also set the standard for future live albums. Up until this point KISS album sale had been marginal at best. The band's following was made up mainly of their live audiences. They were known for their live shows as concerts were selling out but records were staying on the shelves. This inspired Neil Bogart to re-package & re-release the first three studio albums in a special three record set called "The Originals". A very rare piece of KISS collectable vinyl to be sure. The Originals came with a book, a set of KISS collector cards, & a big KISS Army sticker. There were only three printings of this set ever done. First the white label promotional, then the first printing, and lastly a second printing. The originals has never been re-issued or released on CD. I included scans from all three printings of "The Originals" with my last posting (Dressed To Kill).
