American Artist Steve Richardson

Beginning with watercolor Steve slowly transitioned to oils as his preferred medium. Quickly becoming both a student and teacher Steve continues to work tirelessly to master his craft, never ceasing to explore and try new inovative ways to express both what is in front of his eyes and what is inside his heart.

Steve's lifetime on the ocean has given him a multitude of visual experiences and he rarely uses a camera to capture a scene, he is content to just soak it in with a sense of awe and reverence. These inner experiences of the outer world are translated into a more personal statement on canvas. His approach varies from the sensitive use of thin washes to the bold application of thick impasto with a pallette knife but with any technique he chooses there is a constant masterful quality in his work in the way he conveys light, a sense of place, and mood. Steve's award winning paintings are collected throughout North America and Europe.
