Anything by Jill Shalvis is on my automatic buy list, and Always on My Mind (A Lucky Harbor Novel) was no exception. Jack is a fire fighter in Lucky Harbor when we revisit this small town but this time we check In with Leah, a reality cooking star and a pastry chef from a french culinary school and a best friend of Jack's who left town (him) a long time ago. She is in town pinch hitting for her grandma's bakery while her grandma is recovering from knee surgery on a temporary basis.
This is my favorite kind of romance, between best friends with more to the story than you would think, there is strong emotion, tears, and smiles, some angst, steam, and a little suspense. She also includes Kevin, a goofy great dane that adds warmth and humor to the story.
Ms Shalvis has a way of pulling you into the story, and has a wonderful way of bringing the surroundings to life. The secondary characters are brought into the story as well, and there is a lead-in for the next book in the series, Aubrey, one of her two best friends referred to in the story, and Ben, Jack's cousin.
