As a fan of historical novels I discovered Sherry's talent in one of her earlier books, Four Sisters, Four Queens where she showed off her skills while writing not just about one queen and their lives but four simultaneously and with masterful prose. That being said I could not wait for The Sharp Hook of Love where she delves into the lives and hearts of the master teacher, Peter Abélard and future abess Héloïse d'Argenteuil and their beautiful love for each other. Héloïse and Abelard were contemporary thinkers who fell in love with each other: body, mind and soul much to the dismay of the world around them! Were they born 800 years too soon or would we have embraced this passionate couple today? I devoured this book in hours and was not disappointed. I am confidient won't be either! In the SHOL Jones once again lives up to her "real" name, The Mistress of Prose.
