A good start to prepare for CCIE SP v4 exam

CCIE is one of the top certificates in computer networking industry. It demonstrates high level skills in implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting complex networks based on Cisco technologies. Many network engineer are actively seeking for achieving this bona fide because of its long-term credit. Cisco publicly announced this degree in 1993 with a quoted saying of John Chambers in a press.

Currently, there are 6 active CCIE Certificates in major parts of networking. Each of these certificates focuses on a particular area. These are CCIE Routing and Switching which concentrates on converged network infrastructures, CCIE Service Provider which focuses on provider level infrastructures, CCIE Data Center which stresses on data center networks, CCIE Collaboration which ensures that a network engineer has good knowledge and experience in utilizing voice and video solutions, CCIE Security that recognizes individuals who have the expert level knowledge of security principles and skills in enforcing network security technologies using latest best practices and finally, CCIE Wireless that identifies network experts in using Cisco wireless network solutions to build networks with solid understanding of WLAN technologies.

There are two methods to get this certificate that Cisco calls them “Certification Paths”. The first one is regular method and delineates a sequence from Associate (CCNA) to expert (CCIE) degrees. The second method is direct CCIE that is suitable for experienced networkers and individuals who want to evaluate their knowledge in a specific area.
