A collection of ten transcriptions for the guitar of classic rags by Scott Joplin, the greatest and most inspired of all ragtime composers. The works selected for this volume are an excellent cross-sampling of Joplin's rags.
Scott Joplin was an African-American composer and pianist. Joplin achieved fame for his ragtime compositions, and was later titled The King of Ragtime.

During his brief career, he wrote 44 original ragtime pieces, one ragtime ballet, and two operas. One of his first pieces, the Maple Leaf Rag, became ragtime's first and most influential hit, and has been recognized as the archetypal rag.
Brazilian guitarist Carlos Barbosa-Lima is acclaimed as one of the leading guitarists in the world. He is widely recognized for his extraordinary transcriptions of works by Scarlatti, Bach, Handel and other classical masters. This Joplin volume is the first to appear in a series of noted American Composers works transcribed for the guitar by Barbosa-Lima.
