Rene J. Francillon, Peter B. Lewis - Navy Attack: Spads, Scooters and Whales (Osprey Colour Series)
Osprey Publishing | 1990 | ISBN: 0850459699 | English | 130 pages | PDF | 41.41 MB

There is no pretending that this book is an historical study of Skyraiders, Skyhawks, and Skywarriors - or, as they were affectionately known, Spads, Scooters, and Whales - in US naval service, or that it is exhaustive in its presentation of their camouflage and markings. II is simply intended to record some of these camouflage schemes and markings, mostly from happier days (from the photographer's point of view, not that of the pilot having to dodge missiles and avoid being seen by his adversaries!) when bright splashes of colour had not yet been displaced by effective, but oh so dull, Tactical Paint Schemes, and to provide a colourful look at three of the greatest aircraft designed by the one man who has often been called Mr Naval Aviation, Edward H. Heinemann.
