U. S. Air Force, History Museums Program | 2009 | ISBN: N/A | English | 38 pages | PDF | 59.5 MB

Written by the U.S. Air Force to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Air Force, this is a short history of the 1st American Volunteer Group (AVG) of the Chinese Air Force, nicknamed the Flying Tigers. It was commanded by Claire Lee Chennault and composed of pilots from the United States Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, recruited under U. S. presidential authority.
In their distinctive shark-faced fighters, they took on the undefeated forces of the Empire of Japan and helped turned the tide of war in the Asian theater.
