LFG Roland C.II (Windsock Datafile 49) By Peter M. Grosz
Publisher: Albatros Productions Ltd 1995 | 40 Pages | ISBN: 0948414669 | PDF | 19 MB

The LFG Roland C.1I Walfisch (Whale) made its frontline debut in March-April 1916 and was truly ahead of its time. In comparison with all other two-seat types of its day, on both sides of the lines, it stands apart in aerodynamic and structural design, sufficiently advanced in fact to spawn a single-seat fighter (see WINDSOCK DATAFILENo.47, Roland D.II, by the same author). Nevertheless, operationally speaking, the C.II was soon found wanting and various difficulties in flying the machine and more particularly landing it, are described in the following narrative. For all that the Roland C.II remains a modellers' favourite and to satisfy many requests we are pleased to oblige with this unrivalled collection of photos and drawings.
