This book introduces you to transistor operation by first explaining the operation of the P-N junction. This explanation is then extended to the junction transistor, which consists of two P-N juctions. The explanation of the internal workings of the transistor is quite simplified, but sifficient for you to relate the internal workings to the operation of the transistor in a circuit. Thus, the transition is made from semiconductor physics to the actual transistor circuits. Basic amplifiers and oscillators are discussed, with the emphasis on fundamentals. Graphical analyses with important points highlighted in color are used to help in the explanations. A chapter is included to cover some 'recent' important semiconductor advances: the zener diode, unijunction transistor, silicon controlled rectifier, and field-effect transistor.
