The Bastard War: The Mesopotamian Campaign of 1914-1918
The Dial Press | 1967 | ISBN: N/A | English | 502 pages | PDF | 68 MB

This is an excellent book about a little known campaign in World War I. Barker's book, covers the campaign from its inception to the end of the war. Barker served in the Indian Army and has a good understanding for the British and Indian forces that fought in it. He highlights how the Indian government negatively influenced the battle through its lack of support. Barker discusses both the strategic and operational matters, as well as what it was like for the soldiers. His focus is almost exclusively on the British and Indians, with little about the Turks or Arabs. Barker is an excellent writer and his narrative flows very well while still analyzing what was going on.
