Kelly Kirlin, Instructor
Since childhood, Kelly has created art through the manipulation of light. At age eight, a gift from her mother allowed her to craft shadow-grams through light-sensitive paper, which left photographic object outlines on its surface. This quickly turned into a love affair with the world of photography. Kelly attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her studies in biology led to an opportunity to explore conservation ecology on the coral reefs of Mexico. Her newfound passion for ecology soon melded with her love of photography, allowing her to create spectacular underwater imagery.

After earning degrees in Studio Art and Biology, Kelly moved to Southern California and attended the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, further developing her talents as a portrait photographer above and below water. In Los Angeles, she shot model portfolios with several agencies and worked at Shape magazine as a producer. She later moved to Manhattan where she produced and published several editorial assignments, one of which earned a Charlie Design Award for best black-and-white story.

Kelly's next destination was Austin, Texas, where she worked with Austin Monthly Magazine to co-create the six-page style section feature for more than three years. She now lives in California and is passionate about bringing her unique style and expertise to students of the Eclipse Photography Institute. View her work, visit www.kellykirlin.com.
