This book of the famous American writer Washington Irving, published in 1894 and illustrated by Randolph Caldecott, represents the author's nostalgic recollections of Christmas traditions in XIX century England. It reveals Irving's experiences during his staying at the country estate of his friend Mr. Bracebridge and describes the scenes of feasting and dancing, the old English kitchens, the dress and manners. Washington Irving is considered to be the first author who introduced to the Americans the Christmas traditions of old England.
