A Very Capable Life: The Autobiography of Zarah Petri By John Leigh Walters
Publisher: UBC Press 2009 | 196 Pages | ISBN: 1897425414 | PDF | 3 MB

Zarah Petri came to Canada from Hungary in the 1920s. Married at 16, she earned money by bootlegging her home-made pear liquor during Prohibition and selling freshly-butchered hogs from the trunk of her car during World War II. Her story is told by her son, who spent his career writing, producing, and hosting television programs in the U.S. and Canada.
