I learned about Colonial Militia's while working on family history and genealogy. My ancestors were members of militias which led to my curiosity about the Second Amendment. I was certain from reading contemporaneous records from the 1700's that the Amendment had little to do with individual rights to own arms and everything to do with the State's ability to conscript citizens into militias for the common defense of those original States. Michael Waldman reinforced my understanding of the Second Amendment.
