Until shortly before the start of World War 1, Fokker’s business efforts consisted of the construction of Spin (spider) aircraft, and the operation of a flying school for military and civil students. During this time, sales were sparse and the period 1910 to 1914 became known as Anthony Fokker’s “years of adversity”.
