Blue Warrior (A Troy Pearce Novel)

Mike Maden "Blue Warrior (A Troy Pearce Novel)"
Putnam Adult | English | October 16, 2014 | ISBN: 0399167390 | 416 pages | azw, epub, lrf, mobi | 4 mb

The second of the Troy Pearce novels, Blue Warrior is a great read. I really enjoyed the first book, Drone, that was fast paced and action oriented. It too starred Pearce and his team utilizing advanced technology in seemingly real world scenarios. Like Drone, Blue Warrior has all the fun "toys". This one is set in Africa where the Chinese are trying to set themselves up to control valuable resources, like rare earth elements, by any means possible. I short (without giving too much away), Pearce gets pulled into the middle of the battle between the Chinese and the local Tuareg fighters while trying to help a friend who won't walk away from the people he is trying to protect.

Politics, power and corruption are major threads through both books. I really like how Maden's books flow straight from the current time into his fictitious world. The political characters are introduced as ones who come into power directly after the Obama administration. It makes it seem like it could really be happening.

The pace of this second book not as fast which helped pull me more into the story. I got attached to the characters that I was supposed to, and I cheered when the ones I despised got what was coming to them. It was very satisfying and I look forward to the next book in the series. Keep them coming!
