TANÂTOS, alias "The Son of Death" or "The Man of a Thousand Faces" arrives on the scene in December 1913 when Raymond Poincaré is President. The Socialists, led by Jean Jaurès, still believe that war can be avoided, and fight the warlike ardor of the government and the nationalists.
