is a comic book written by Kieron Gillen and drawn by Jamie McKelvie. It is published by Image Comics. A run of at least two mini-series was planned. The first volume, "Rue Britannia," was a 6-issue run that began in August 2006 and ended May 2007 and stars David Kohl, a mage who uses the medium of Britpop music to interpret his magic. The next volume is the current and will consist of seven one-shots looking at young phonomancers with the main sixteen page story rounded-out with features and back-up stories. At the end of each issue, the creators give a glossary of the more obscure phrases and pop-culture references used, as well as musings on the history of Britpop and the influences on the issue. The current issue entitled "Konichiwa Bitches", aside from the obvious in that it is essentially an issue of talking heads is an exquisite, detailed exploration of characters interacting with one another. From the pacing to the expressive character work, everything feels just right, though I wouldn't go as far as calling it a masterpiece. Still quite breathtaking.
