is a comic book published in a series of mini-series, or cycles, written and illustrated by Hub with colors done by Hub and Stephan Pecayo. Originally published in France by Delcourt, Archaia Studios Press started reprinting the series in English in 2006 with English translation by Edward Gauvin. Two cycles have so far been published by Archaia, the first one being and the second, . The concluding issue of the second cycle, , was set for release last December 23, 1009 but apparently only came out Wednesday, January 13, 2010. Adult content: graphic violence and nudity. only
The action of the first cycle of Okko takes place at the far end of the known lands of the . Pajan itself is a vast and diversified island, surrounded by a multitude of archipelagoes. Its name is derived from that of its Imperial Family. Though the Pajans have reigned for a millennium, in the last few decades three major families—the , the , and the —have called into question their legitimacy and now refuse to cease their battles against the Imperial Family. These power struggles have destabilized the Empire, and famine and catastrophes follow one another. This period of chaos is commonly called the (the ). The Okko series begins in the middle of this tumultuous period, in the 1108 of the official calendar. The way of life and various habits of the inhabitants of the Empire of Pajan are rather close to those of medieval Japan. However, one major difference is a great technological revolution that appeared a few centuries ago: the , colossal combat armors handled from within by marionettists. Their use has radically changed the ancestral art of war in the Pajan Empire. The Ataku family has taken the lead in the construction and the handling of these frightening machines of war. --
The was originally published as a two-issue mini-series, Book One and Book Two, by Delcourt in 2005, but has been reprinted by Archaia Studios Press as a four-issue mini-series (2006–2007). Archaia split the original Book One into the first two issues of the first cycle and Book Two into the third and fourth issues. The was originally published as a two-issue mini-series by Delcourt in 2007-2008, and Archaia Studios Press, following the same publication format as the first cycle, has just finished reprinting all of the four-issue mini-series (2008– 2010).
