Howard and published by Dark Horse Comics that began in June 25, 2008 and ended in November 24, 2010. It continues from where the first Dark Horse series, simply entitled , and that ran for 50 issues from 2004 to 2008, left off. Dark Horse in fact specifies as "No. 51 in a Series" and so on, excluding the #0 issue special that served to introduce the new series. presents a fresh interpretation, incorporating both new material and adaptations of stories by Robert E. Howard, with no other connection to many Marvel Comics series or other post-Howard material, with the aim of revitalizing the character which has remained quite popular through the years. in Dark Horse Comics' chronology marks a transition point going into the second major chapter in Conan's life, as he leaves his time as a thief and rogue behind him and heads into his mercenary and pirate years. Included in this compilation is the prologue issue and the one-shot special that takes place between the "Cimmeria" and "Black Colossus" story arcs in the series. Violent and graphic with lush visuals, this series is a consistent fan favorite. With the exception of issues #6, 7, 9 and 11 (which are themselves excellent DCP scans), all are high-quality Minutemen scans.
Conan the Cimmerian #0 marks a transitional period in young Conan's life, as he spurns the magicians, turncoats, and legal trappings of the cities he's seen in order to return to the beloved northern frontiers of Cimmeria, where he was born and raised. It also marks a turning point in the artistic muscle that will fuel Conan's adventures throughout 2008 and beyond. Writer Timothy Truman and Argentine artist Tomás Giorello are joined by renowned colorist José Villarrubia in this special issue, as they deliver their adaptation of Robert E. Howard's "Cimmeria" poem. And what's up with Conan? He fights for his life when he crosses paths with a pack of Vanir raiders on the Cimmerian border! Taking our brutal barbarian into his next exciting era! -- The thrilling, battle-filled finale to Robert E. Howard's "Iron Shadows in the Moon"-and Dark Horse's final Conan the Cimmerian issue! With the threat of pirates and a centuries-old evil at his heels, Conan's troubles triple when he and Olivia are confronted by the jungle creature that's been stalking them. The island where Conan once sought refuge has become a battleground with constant surprises and death in every dark corner. Tim Truman, Tomás Giorello, and José Villarrubia conclude their adaptation of one of Howard's strangest stories in their final issue of Conan the Cimmerian. Fear not, faithful readers, as this Conan creative team will be returning next year to chronicle the exploits, adventures, and woes of an older King Conan! --
